How Can We Help You?

Robbins Estate Law serves Tarrytown families from our Austin office at 3800 N Lamar Blvd, Suite 200, roughly two miles from the neighborhood. We offer in-person strategy sessions, document signing, and ongoing counsel for long-tenured homeowners, high-net-worth professionals, and families coordinating assets across a primary Tarrytown residence and a second property on Lake Austin. Every engagement is priced on a transparent flat-fee basis, so you know the full cost before we begin. Virtual meetings are also available whenever that works better for your schedule.

Asset Protection

Tarrytown property investors and professionals face real liability exposure that a basic will cannot address. We design layered protection using Domestic Asset Protection Trusts, Series LLCs for rental portfolios, and irrevocable trust structures suited to high-net-worth west-Austin families. Whether you own a single Bryker Woods investment property or a portfolio stretching across Travis County, we structure ownership so personal creditors face meaningful barriers, all priced at a transparent flat fee disclosed upfront.

Wills & Trusts

A revocable living trust is the cornerstone tool for most Tarrytown households. It keeps a high-value Lake Austin Boulevard or Old Enfield home out of Travis County probate entirely, shields your family from a public record of assets, and transfers title to heirs without court delay. We pair every trust with a pour-over will, financial powers of attorney, and healthcare directives so the full plan works together from day one.

Inheritance & Estate Tax

High-value Tarrytown estates can face federal estate tax exposure, and the current exemption threshold is not permanent. We work with west-Austin families on Spousal Lifetime Access Trusts, Grantor Retained Annuity Trusts, and Irrevocable Life Insurance Trusts to reduce taxable estate size while preserving access and control during your lifetime. Early planning gives these tools the time they need to work most effectively.

Special Needs Planning

A Tarrytown family supporting a child or sibling with a disability needs a plan that preserves government benefit eligibility while still providing genuine financial support. A properly drafted Special Needs Trust holds assets outside the beneficiary's countable resources, allowing Medicaid and SSI to continue uninterrupted. We counsel Deep Eddy and Pemberton Heights families through trustee selection, funding strategy, and the precise drafting language Texas requires.

Guardianship

When a Tarrytown family member loses capacity without a durable power of attorney in place, Texas courts must step in and appoint a guardian, a process that is public, slow, and expensive. We help families avoid that outcome entirely through advance directives, medical powers of attorney, and properly funded revocable trusts. For situations where guardianship is already necessary, we guide families through the Travis County court process with clear, flat-fee pricing.

Business Succession

Many Tarrytown professionals and investors hold ownership interests in operating businesses, real estate partnerships, or family LLCs alongside their residential property. A business succession plan coordinates buy-sell agreements, trust ownership of business interests, and valuation discount strategies so the enterprise transfers to the next generation or a chosen partner without triggering unnecessary tax or conflict among heirs.

The Robbins Difference

Not Your Typical Law Firm.

Tarrytown has anchored west Austin for generations, and the homes along Lake Austin Boulevard and within Pemberton Heights represent far more than real estate. They carry family history. A well-built estate plan keeps that legacy intact, steers your property away from Travis County probate court, and ensures the next generation inherits cleanly and privately.

Courtroom Tested

Unlike forms-only services, we actively litigate in Travis County probate and civil courts. We know how legal documents are challenged in a courtroom setting, so we draft your estate plan specifically to withstand scrutiny and succeed.

Transparent Flat Fees

No surprise bills. We believe in value-based pricing, providing you with a clear, upfront investment for your estate plan so you can focus on your family’s future rather than billable hours.

Meet The Founder

Kyle Robbins, Esq.

"What Makes Me Uniquely Qualified To Serve Your Family?"

Growing up in a farming family taught me two things above all else: the value of hard work and the importance of protecting family, no matter what. Those lessons have guided me throughout my career and inspire the way we serve our clients today.

After graduating from Oklahoma State University, I spent several years building a successful family business with my father. This hands-on experience gave me insight into the complexities and emotions involved in planning for your family's future. Motivated by a desire to help others secure peace of mind, I earned my law degree with honors from the University of Texas School of Law.

Estate planning became deeply personal when my first child was born. Creating our family's estate plan brought me tremendous relief and confidence, knowing my loved ones were secure. I founded Robbins Estate Law to provide that same peace of mind and security to other families.

As the founder of one of Texas's leading estate planning firms, I've helped thousands of families navigate estate planning, probate, and estate tax matters. Many Tarrytown households need the more advanced side of our work, and it is a focus of the firm: we handle high-net-worth estate planning for families across Austin.  Our firm prides itself on compassionate guidance, transparent pricing, and personalized support at every step.

"Tarrytown families often come to us with a home their parents or grandparents built, substantial investment assets, and a strong desire to keep everything out of probate and off the public record. That combination calls for a trust-centered plan built around the specific character of a west-Austin estate."  Kyle Robbins, Esq.

Common Questions (FAQ)

The federal estate tax exemption is substantial but indexed to inflation and subject to legislative change, meaning a Tarrytown estate combining a Lake Austin Boulevard property, investment accounts, and business interests can approach or exceed the threshold more easily than families expect. Proactive tools such as SLATs and GRATs can reduce your taxable estate before any exemption reduction takes effect. We review your full picture and recommend structures matched to your specific numbers.

Yes. Texas law allows investors to hold rental properties inside a Series LLC, which creates separate liability cells so that a claim arising from one property cannot reach assets held in another cell. A Domestic Asset Protection Trust adds a further layer for high-net-worth owners. For Tarrytown landlords and property investors, we design the ownership structure before a claim arises, because asset protection tools are far less effective once litigation has begun.

A Section 1301 Management Trust is a Texas court-created trust authorized under the Texas Estates Code, sometimes used to manage assets for a person who lacks capacity. It differs from a privately drafted Special Needs Trust in that it requires ongoing court oversight and lacks some of the flexibility families need to preserve government benefits. For most Tarrytown families, a privately drafted Special Needs Trust drafted by counsel is the more practical and cost-effective long-term solution.

Texas is an income-cap state for Medicaid long-term care programs, meaning applicants whose gross monthly income exceeds the cap cannot qualify without a properly structured Qualified Income Trust, sometimes called a Miller Trust. For Tarrytown families with pension income, Social Security, or investment distributions, this threshold matters significantly. We incorporate Medicaid eligibility strategy into our elder law and Special Needs planning so families understand the rules well before a care crisis arrives.

Naming your estate as beneficiary forces those assets through Travis County probate, eliminating the tax-deferred stretch options available to individual beneficiaries and exposing the funds to creditor claims against the estate. For a Tarrytown household with a large IRA or a substantial life insurance policy, the cost in taxes, delay, and legal fees can be significant. Naming a trust or individual beneficiary directly keeps those assets out of probate entirely.

Robbins Estate Law has handled thousands of cases across Texas, including families throughout west Austin neighborhoods such as Tarrytown, Pemberton Heights, Old Enfield, and Bryker Woods. Rather than point to a single neighborhood count, we let our depth of experience across Texas speak for itself. We are happy to discuss the types of plans we build for long-tenured, high-net-worth Austin families when you schedule a consultation at our North Lamar office.

Yes. Our Austin office is located at 3800 N Lamar Blvd, Suite 200, Austin, TX 78756, approximately two miles from Tarrytown. We regularly meet with Pemberton Heights, Old Enfield, and Deep Eddy families in person for strategy sessions, document review, and signings. In-person meetings let us work through the specifics of a high-value west-Austin estate carefully and thoroughly. Virtual appointments are available as well for clients who prefer them.
